- Maria MiyakeWhat's your favorite holiday and why?
Here is a new topic open for discussion. I would like to share my answer first and please let me know yours:
Christmas.. .its about love and family and because that is the most celebrated holiday in our culture and at the same time I could see and be with my entire family and there is no better way to celebrate, reunited , feel and give love than Christmas day. - Lpmhs SeventySix Cafe'Ako rin Christmas. It is the most celebrated and long awaited holiday ng mga Pinoy, mapa-abroad man o hindi for family and friends gatherings and reunions in our country. Christmas is also the season during which Christians everywhere give thanks to God the Father for the birth of His Son, Jesus Christ.
Christmas trees, Santa Claus, decorations, exchanging gifts, and the many other seasonal traditions that most of us observe are wonderful ways for family and friends to mark this time of year.
- Maria MiyakeGanoon? Share ko lang dito kasi sa Japan ay grabe ang business sense pagdating sa promotion ng Christmas, maraming decorations, magagandang ilaw, mga sales, cakes, gifts, makulay, pero dahil di sila Catholics/ Christians....walang true meaning ang Christmas....its just another business day. Another working day. So kung ikaw ay Pinoy, walang pamilya or kaibigan na makakasama to celebrate, tinalo mo pa ang feeling na para kang naiwanan sa isang isla na nag-iisa....but then again....sanayan na lang. Kaya sana ang mga taong kasama ang kanilang mga pamilya, take advantage of it ano?..dahil maswerte kayo na kahit payak or simpleng celebration maganda kasi kasama ang mga mahal sa buhay at pamilya. Speaking of which...malapit na naman ang Christmas...sa Las Pinas nga simula na ng pagbebenta ng Christmas Trees at parol at lahat ng Christmas decorations.
- Lpmhs SeventySix Cafe'Ibang-iba talaga Christmas celebration sa Pinas...mapi-feel mo difference pag nasa abroad ka. Dito sa US, it's just an ordinary holiday....mas matindi pa ang celebration nila pag Thanks-Giving Day.
- Leony EusebioChristmas. This is the most awaited holiday by not only the closest relatives and friends, but also the distant ones wherein everyone shares the joy of giving. The time for healing, kiss and make-up for those who have grudges with someone close to their heart..within the family circle or even a long lost friend.
For the kids, mostly its more of material things. For the elderly, love and affection from their families whom they have not seen for quite sometime. As most of us children, being away from them when we start a new life of our own with our partner, it is very overwhelming for them to see us in this season with our families.
Christmas is the most celebrated holiday because even the kids are exerting efforts to share. Giving away their stuffs like toys, clothes, books, etc., which are sometimes their favourite ones. It is also in this season wherein we extend our efforts to share and give love for those whom we don't even know by visiting institutions, orphanages or even sharing a home for the season. This practice is definitely Filipinos'. - Maria Miyake@ Bernie,
Sabi ko we don't celebrate it here.
Kapag nag sideline ka during the holidays, baka kasamana pati pa pasko ha? Share kami diyan...lol
@Leony,
Thanks for your thoughts.....Bernie and Leony....sige nga paki sagot this time ang tanong ko please?....Thanks and have a great evening/morning. - Rudy NuevoHELLO EVERYONE!
Wow ang layo niyo na...late na ako..pero cge..a big bang to the coming " NEW YEAR''!

At sa ingay ng paligid....we will burried all our burdens...all our misfortunes..lahat ng klase ng kalungkutan at mga problema iiwan natin to face for the coming good years. - Leony Eusebio@Maria,
- Maria Miyake@Rudy...its okay....walang maaga or late sa ating discussion. Masaya nga kung mas marami parang exchange gift ika nga...but instead exchange of ideas.
New Year with a bang...ika nga.
Glad you're able to join this discussion...and in the future, anyone is welcome to start a topic para naman mayroon tayong interaction ika nga....masaya di ba?
That is a very good way to talk and at the same time makita ang kausap, hindi ba?
- Maria MiyakeI see....wow..thats a nice story and thanks for sharing Willie.
I am sure your boys are looking forward to visiting the Phils. again in the future...lalo pa kung Christmas season. I can imagine...kasi marami rin akong experiences with my 2 girls. Pero kami naman, we used to spend iyong school vacation nila sa Pinas nuong mga bata pa sila so we used to spend a month or two sa Pinas. Tapos nauwi rin kami ng Christmas. I have a story to share din regarding Christmas.
Umuwi kami ng Pinas to spend the holidays with our relatives and family. Sabi ko mag bless sila tinuruan ko, then I told them na I am sure they will give you something like a present or some money. Eto na nga po, pagka bless, inilahad ang kamay, di binigyan naman ng pesos, eh di kilala, ang sabi, I do not like this....please give me some DOLLARS please....nagtawanan ang mga kamag-anak kasi sabi naku wala kami niyan dito. At palibhasa mga babae, mayroon silang bag para ilagay ang kanilang mga cash gifts, walang ginawa kung di bilangin at mag compare para malaman kung sino ang nakarami.....at saka pati na rin iyong pasabog....natutuwa sila duon...just a couple of too many stories during the holiday season na na experienced namin...dahil nga di kami taga roon...those were the days...it was fun...but now...sila na ang namumudmod ng gifts sa mga pinsan , lolo at lola at mga tito and tita's and they always enjoy it.
Have a nice day/evening everyone! - Leony EusebioExperiences wise, talagang marami. Hindi lang ito puro saya kundi mayroon ding kaunting tampuhan o conflict when it comes to who's in-laws will they spend the Christmas eve.
- Lpmhs SeventySix Cafe'WOW layo nyo na.....just to inform you, nandito lang, medyo busy lang....am glad this section is improving....dumadami na tayo....Welcome Wilfred!!! Break muna ako ha....may project na di maiwan....Thanks to everyone....Have a nice weekend.
- Maria MiyakeWish we could hear more thoughts about the favorite holidays....its fun!
Well so far, we have heard some funny, interesting, first time experiences...how about the not so happy experiences that anyone would like to share?
Bernie....pag tapos ng project share ka ng unpleasant experience/s mo ha?...thats your penalty for not being active for a while....lol...just kidding!!!!
Time flies ano? Any plans for this coming Christmas Holiday anyone? Well...looking forward to hearing some more. Have a great day/evening everyone!
